When I was young, I would paint my nails, draw on napkins, and use creativity as a way to process the world around me. For as long as I can remember, visual art has been a personal practice, always present, always helping me cope. I began working professionally as an artist at 18, vending at local shows, building community, and eventually opening a shop. While I experienced growth and visibility, the pace became overwhelming. By 2022, I realized I no longer wanted to keep up with commercial demands, gallery systems, or the speed of client expectations. I was burned out—disconnected from my own work, chasing outcomes that no longer felt aligned.
Soltera Creative emerged from this turning point. I returned to art not as a product, but as a process of healing, reflection, and legacy-building. I now create art to document my life—my history—so that my children and their children can see who I was, what I loved, what I struggled with, and how I survived.

10 Ways to Support Artists

As we move toward a more socially conscious world, more and more people are looking for ways to shop small, support artists, and be more intentional with where their money goes. Supporting small artists and businesses is more than just buying something cute. It helps real people keep creating, pay bills, grow their work, and keep making art. It doesn't always have to be monetary either, it can be something as simple as writing a comment (with actual words, not just emojis) or sharing a post...

How Soltera Creative Came to Be

Before Soltera Creative, there was Brewja Co. And before I explain anything else: Brewja Co is not dead. She is simply resting, reorganizing, and waiting for me to get a few more things in order. She will come back in the future when I have all my businesses running in a way that actually makes sense and does not make me want to crawl into a hole. But for a long time, Brewja Co was the place where I tried to put everything. My art. My business ideas. My dreams of a coffee shop. It is true I am an AuDHDer. Or maybe not surprise because apparently some of my close circle read it from a mile away. I didn't know how my brain worked until I was 30... which is a bit of a mindf*ck. And well that helped me figure out what I need to be mindful of for me to take care of myself. But before that I was always confused and felt misunderstood. It seemed like I couldn't quite relate to anyone. So art became on of the clearest ways I have not only attempted understood...

How to Clean Your Paint Brushes

You would think I learned my lesson with my graveyard of sad crunchy little sticks. I know first hand what happens to paint brushes when you don't take care of them because I have accidently left them in water, dry with full of paint, or pushed paint straight into the barrel while cleaning them (whoops!). Curses to my AuDHD. I digress. Properly cleaning and caring for your brush is super easy way of extending the life span of your brushes and makes painting much more enjoyable! But I'd rather tell you my story. I’m Esperanza. I’m a Chicagoland-based Chicana artist, multidisciplinary creative, and someone who has a lot of aspirations in life. One of my many truths in life is that art has always been a necessity. Art is deeply personal to me (and every other artist duh). For me each work starts somewhere small: a feeling, a weird little thought, a color combination I can’t stop thinking about, or sometimes an odd experience that somehow turns into something worth...
